But got to love Cambodia and Thailand for it's exotic foods... you can find any bugs you want.
But yeah... Back in Thailand after an increadibly bumpy ride from Siem Reap. Angkor Wat had been absolutely stunning. Loved every moment of it. Went there for sun set, for sun rise and for the scorching heat of the day. Honestly, of all the ruins all around the world that I have seen, none compare with Angkor. Not even the Pyramids in Cairo, the Pantheon in Athens or Machu Picchu in Peru. This was simply superb. We took tuk-tuks to navigate the hundreds of temples as well as peddled our own biclycles for over a 20km loop in the noon heat.
With Angkor taken care off we bussed it to Thailand and as mentioned - the ride was even bumpier than the Friendship Highway in Tibbet and increadibly dusty and hot. 6 hours of a ride like that in a bus that was slowly fallign appart (my seat had a hole in it and a small girl sitting accross from me fell completely backward as the back of her seat gave way and came completely undone) was more than enough to make us really bless the paved tarmac roads of Thailand.
Bangkok we did a head-over-heal tour of the city and then went shopping... shopping... shopping. Got to love being near the end of your trip, or at least your traveling partners trip. Unfortunately all the shopping hasn't amounted to much since we were only scouting prices for now and still have a hectic evening and morning of haggling left. Instead for the last 3 days we spent relaxing at Ko Samet Island.
As luck woudl have it - it was a Thai holiday/long weekend. All accommodations were filled by the time we arrived - and rooms that would normaly be going for 300 Baht were being sold for 1500 baht. We finally found one for 800 and successfuly switched over to a 600 one on the second night. The weather also didn't seem to be on our side since it was compeltely overcast. However, with nothign better to do we still lay on the beach and swam in the ocean. The water was increadibly warm and the weather warm enough to be enjoyable without being scortching. Well... as usual, when there's no sun there is no need for sunscrean... um... that's unfortunately not true. Our sunburned bodies on the next day were evidence enough that you could get burned by clouds... at least in Thailand. The next day we avoided the clouds... at least as much as we could sticking to the shade.
But yeah... 3 days of relaxing and fine dining as the tide rolled over our feet while sitting in the beachreastaurants and now back to the chaos of Bangkok.
My mom is off tomorrow back for Vancouver - with a 13 hour horrible stop-over in Soule and I'm off to Chiang Mai to do some trekking, rafting, elephant riding and whatever else I can come up with to fill up the 10 days before Jordan gets here.
Take care all.

Paulina: what's up with the silence
Jordan: do you want to go pet some tigers when you get here or should I go before you do? There's a tiger temple that you can visit here.
